His fingerstyle technique and spontaneous arrangement of "Close to You", a classic Carpenter's tune has brought him to be one of the six finalists of the International Ukulele Contest 2018 held in Honolulu (solo category), Hawaii, the land of Ukulele itself.
Daniel likes to put some fresh jazz elements in his ukulele playing, be it as playful phrase or inserting extra chords in the progression. Beside actively performing for events he also actively teaches ukulele ensemble in Community Club, international school, churches and private groups.
In 2019 he was selected to be the finalist of the same competition, but now he wasn't alone, the group he coached (SURE - Singapore Ukulele Revival) was selected to be one of the finalists of group category and later on won the 2nd prize.
In 2020 his coached group under SURE (different members as the previous one) won the 2nd prize again in the same international contest. Daniel's also the finalist of Kris Fuchigami's International Ukulele Contest in 2020 and the 1st runner up of an online International Ukulele Contest (Solo Fingerstyle - Open category) organised by Malaysia Ukulele Festival in 2021 and 2022.
Beside teaching many private students (1 to1 and private classes, on-line and off-line), academic schools and with Community Clubs he also actively performs professionally for events, gigs, ukulele showcases locally and internationally.
He also conducts some ukulele concerts , "A Little Story of Uke & Me" and "Uke-tide Ho-lele-day Mood" in 2019, "Hawaiian Night" in 2020, "Ukulele Christmas Concert" in 2022, "Mother's Day Ukulele Concert" in 2023.
He’s the founder & organiser of The 1st “Ukulele Camp and Fun Holiday” in South East Asia in 2018 and 2019 where he brought his ukulele groups for some overseas workshops as well as holiday.
